Understanding Co-op and Internship Work Permits for International Students in Canada
The co-op and internship work permit Canada is essential for many international students in Canada who seek valuable work experience during their studies through co-op placements or internships. These opportunities often form an integral part of your academic program, providing practical skills and financial support. However, not all students are automatically eligible to work without a valid work permit.
What Is a Co-op or Internship Work Permit?
A co-op or internship work permit allows international students to gain the work experience required to complete their academic program. This permit is necessary when your study program includes a mandatory work placement component.

- Your co-op placement or internship accounts for 50% or less of your total study program duration.
Who Is Not Eligible?
