Caregivers
Canada’s Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot (HCWIP) program provides immigration pathways for caregivers who work with children, seniors, or individuals with medical or special needs. This program offers two clear pathways to permanent residence for eligible candidates.
At Zohil-Morton Law, we assist caregivers with permanent residence applications under Canada’s HCWIP program, ensuring a seamless and efficient application process.
Canada’s Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot (HCWIP) Program
Caregivers can apply for permanent residence through Canada’s Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot (HCWIP) program, which is designed to make it easier for home care workers, whether in home support or home child care, become Canadian permanent residents while gaining flexibility regarding their work options. The HCWIP program has two streams:
- Workers currently in Canada; and,
- Applicants who are not yet working in Canada.
Who is Eligible for the HCWIP Program?
Applicants interested in working in Canada’s home care sector, including child care and home support, will be eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency through this program if they meet the following criteria:
- Score a minimum of level 4 in English or French on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC);
- Have the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma, or higher;
- Have at least 6 months of recent and relevant work experience, or a related caregiver training credential; and,
- Have a full-time job offer from a private household or an organization that directly hires full-time workers to provide home care services within Canada, outside of Québec.
